I am a History Education major at Appalachian State University. I am currently in my Senior year and preparing to student teach. I have an adoration for all eras of history but the thing that brings me the most joy is a happy classroom. I strive to create inclusive environments for all of my students and take a new approach to education. I have worked extensively with rural and impoverished communities as a way to connect with diverse environments and expand my ability to educate.

My favorite century to teach is the 1800s and the social movements that took place. I seek to show my students how they will play a role in history and prepare them to be effective citizens, however that may be.

I spend my free time reading, gardening, hiking, and researching. I would love the opportunity to travel more and hope to backpack across Europe’s historical sites someday.

My personal belief is that Social Studies is a critical field for students to prepare them for the world ahead. I believe that students should have more room to interact with course content and engage in simulations when appropriate. Discussion and writing-based learning are central to my beliefs and I hope to prepare my students to critically analyze the world around them.
